Decisions

Fork in the Road

A couple of months ago, I taught a series on decision making.  We make decisions every day of our lives.  Some don't make a big difference (Wendy's or McDonald's?), but others make a huge difference (Should I marry this person or not?)  One of the keys to a joyful life is learning to become a good decision maker.  If you don't think that's true, just ask someone who has made  a lot of bad decisions.

The Bible gives a great deal of insight regarding how to make good decisions.  Take a look at the list of decision making principles below and the Bible verses that go along with them.  Follow these principles and you will be a better decision maker.  Drop me an email if you want some more explanation regarding any or all of the principles listed here.

1. Follow the Example of God - Genesis 4:4

2. Don’t make Decisions when You’re Angry - Genesis 4:5

3. Make Decisions Based on Gratitude - 1 Timothy 1:12-13

4. Don’t make Decisions based on Popular Opinion - Matthew 26:69-75

5. Make Decisions based on past Good Decisions (develop the habit of good decision making) - Daniel 1:8 and 6:1-9

6. Don’t make Decisions based on Pleasing Others - Acts 5:1-11

7. Don’t make Decisions based on Circumstances - 1 Kings 17:8-16

8. Don’t make Decisions based on Instant Gratification - Genesis 25:27-34

9. Make Decisions based on the Fact that you will Reap what you Sow - Genesis 29:10-28

10. Make Decisions based on the Presence of God - Exodus 33:15
