New Series: What is a Biblical Fundamentalist?

Crazy Preacher

What do you think of when you hear the word "fundamentalist?"  That word seems to invoke a lot of negative feelings in people today.  The term is usually associated with Islam and Islamic Fundamentalists.  Sometimes people think of some raving preacher telling you to put on a dress or cut your hair a certain way.  Did you know that fundamentalism can apply to a lot of different things?  Think about the fundamentals of basketball or the fundamentals of flight.  Those ideas don't instill fear (unless you don't like flying!).  The truth is that this world has nothing to fear about a Biblical Fundamentalist.

We're going to be starting a new series next Sunday learning what a Biblical Fundamentalist is and what it means to be one.  Join us as we learn about this important attribute of our church.

Decisions

Fork in the Road

A couple of months ago, I taught a series on decision making.  We make decisions every day of our lives.  Some don't make a big difference (Wendy's or McDonald's?), but others make a huge difference (Should I marry this person or not?)  One of the keys to a joyful life is learning to become a good decision maker.  If you don't think that's true, just ask someone who has made  a lot of bad decisions.

The Bible gives a great deal of insight regarding how to make good decisions.  Take a look at the list of decision making principles below and the Bible verses that go along with them.  Follow these principles and you will be a better decision maker.  Drop me an email if you want some more explanation regarding any or all of the principles listed here.

1. Follow the Example of God - Genesis 4:4

2. Don’t make Decisions when You’re Angry - Genesis 4:5

3. Make Decisions Based on Gratitude - 1 Timothy 1:12-13

4. Don’t make Decisions based on Popular Opinion - Matthew 26:69-75

5. Make Decisions based on past Good Decisions (develop the habit of good decision making) - Daniel 1:8 and 6:1-9

6. Don’t make Decisions based on Pleasing Others - Acts 5:1-11

7. Don’t make Decisions based on Circumstances - 1 Kings 17:8-16

8. Don’t make Decisions based on Instant Gratification - Genesis 25:27-34

9. Make Decisions based on the Fact that you will Reap what you Sow - Genesis 29:10-28

10. Make Decisions based on the Presence of God - Exodus 33:15
